Successful Training
Bennion-Robertson worked closely with the head of the Business Intelligence Group at a major national communications conglomerate to prepare and deliver training to the cross departmental group. Members of the BIG met for a full day seminar, focusing on a specific research project. They were led through the competitive intelligence cycle, including requirements definition, collection planning, analysis, and presentation.
The BR consultants worked with the department head for about 5 weeks in preparation for the seminar, during which they actually designed the research project the Business Intelligence Group would be tasked with following the training. Working together, they used Bennion-Robertson?s proprietary Humanvantage™ processe to design a project that would focus on a dynamic and changing segment of their audiences, including developing the Key Information Topics (KITs) and subsets of questions that would lead the BIG team to pull the needed data.
During the training, the BR consultants walked the BIG members through how to define project requirements and how to develop the KITs and how to define the scope and scale of the project. Training was provided on the various categories of sources, as well as source identification and tasking. The team had hands on training during a collection exercise.
Following lunch, BIG team members were trained on analysis best practices; they sharpened skills in taking the gathered information and making it actionable ? the basis for making sound business decisions. Training included how to most effectively prepare and deliver their findings in dynamic presentations.
Response to the training was enthusiastic. Follow-up reports indicated that the BR consultants had led the BIG team to a successful project completion through their pre-training work in defining and designing the process, as well as training on collection, analysis and presentation essentials.
